Kia was on a roll with sales in 2021

Kia had an amazing year in terms of sales in 2021, registering its best month ever in June and an overall 9.3% increase year-over-year. The Kia Seltos, Kia Forte, and Kia Sportage all had great years while Kia electric vehicles set a new record for total sales. Kia also won numerous awards including 2 AJAC category winds in 3 AutoTrader.ca awards.


These results are all the more impressive knowing just how difficult 2021 was for the automotive industry. supply challenges and production delays marked the year for every automaker, but Kia managed to keep its head above water and deliver the products its consumers wanted.


“Our success in 2021 can be attributed to our industry leading design, safety and technology, as well as our dedicated dealer network, who remained agile in servicing our customers throughout another pandemic year,” says Elias El-Achhab, Chief Operating Officer at Kia Canada. “As we look forward to 2022, consumer demand remains exceptionally high, leaving us optimistic for the year ahead with new and exciting models like the highly anticipated Kia EV6, set to arrive in dealerships early next year.”


The three most popular Kia vehicles in 2021 were the Kia Seltos SUV, the Kia Forte compact sedan, and the Kia Sportage midsize SUV which recorded sales of 14,436 units, 13,190 units, and 11,837 units respectively. Kia electric vehicles also had an outstanding year with the Kia Soul EV registering an increase in sales of 24% year-over-year. The Kia Niro EV and Kira Niro PHEV saw their sales increase by 152% and 21% respectively. Overall, Kia sold 4,720 electrified vehicles.


Kia took home significant awards as well. The brand received three AutoTrader.ca awards, and the Kia K5 sedan and Kia Telluride SUV won the AJAC category for best large car and best large utility vehicle in 2021.  2021 marks the second year in a row that the Kia Telluride won the award.
