Kia stands out in the 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study

Kia vehicles once again stood out for their quality and their reliability, this time finishing fourth overall in the latest 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study.

This study aims to determine which vehicles and brands offer the highest level of quality over the first 90 days of ownership. To make that determination, J.D. Power contacts over 80,000 consumers who have purchased a new vehicle in the last three months and asks them about their experience. The comprehensive survey includes over 220 questions designed to ascertain the initial quality of every vehicle.

With an average of 156 problems per 100 vehicles, Kia finished fourth overall in early quality, tied with Genesis. Moreover, Kia finished ahead of Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, and Mazda among others in the J.D. Power rankings. No other Korean or Japanese automaker finished ahead of Kia.

The Kia Forte which has been redesigned for 2022 finished first in its segment as well, ahead of the Toyota Corolla and the Nissan Sentra.
